Bandcamp Playlists: Do They Exist?

Bandcamp

Unfortunately not… Yet.

Playlists are definitely something we are looking into, but unfortunately, we do not have a concrete timeline yet.

I plan to make this into a document that will be updated as things develop. According to Bandcamp Support, they’re open to the idea of playlists and listening to what people want.

I recently contacted Bandcamp in an attempt to find if and how we can create playlists with our Bandcamp collections.

So far, no exciting news. It’s a little bit tragic. Our best bet is to request the feature, apparently by contacting their support department directly. That’s not ideal, but they leave us no other option. See the conversation below for more details:

Hello,

I’m a rabid music fan, independent musician, and software engineer. My Bandcamp collection is quickly approaching its irst 1,000 albums. I take music collecting very seriously, and love Bandcamp more than any other music platform.

I have 15 years of professional software engineering experience. I looked into what’s available for the Bandcamp API, and it was disappointingly limited.

The main features that are missing from Bandcamp, to me, are:

1) Feature Requests that are easy for users like me to create, find, and upvote.
2) Playlists that can be shared and shuffled. This would be absolutely huge.
3) Lots more API functionality.

I get the feeling these things have been purposely limited. Any info about this stuff would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Shane,

Thanks for reaching out and sorry for your trouble.

Our APIs are currently limited to Label Accounts (bandcamp.com/labels) looking to pull physical order and general sales information, though that might change down the road. Please keep an eye on bandcamp.com/developer for updates.

Playlists are definitely something we are looking into, but unfortunately, we do not have a concrete timeline yet. Sorry about that!

We really appreciate your support and feedback, you are welcome to write into Support with any recommendations because we do take them into consideration.

Thank you,

Miguel//Bandcamp
